Identify Anxiety

Have you ever felt out of control and unsure of what to do about it?

You are probably experiencing anxiety. When excessive worry, physiological sensations, and a sense of loss of internal control arise, a person seeks external situations that provide a sense of control and thus increase their inner peace.

Here are several examples: “If only I could get my adult child off drugs, I could sleep better,” “If only I could change my husband and save our marriage, I wouldn't feel anxious anymore,” “If only my loved one were healed, I wouldn't have panic attacks anymore,” etc.

The reality is that we don't have control over our children's behavior, our spouse's behavior, or the healing of others. So, the first step to reducing anxiety isn't necessarily solving the problem you have, because it may not have an immediate solution; the first step is rather learning to regulate the physical reactions to anxiety: in other words, taking control of how your body responds to stress.

Despite the stressful situations you may be experiencing, is it possible? The answer is yes. Is it easy? The answer is no. However, God made us so perfect that He equipped our bodies with the ability to protect our brains from the overload caused by excessive worry and intense fear.

If you have identified with any of the situations described above, you have already taken your first step: recognizing that you suffer from anxiety. We will then work on providing you with techniques that will help you find peace in the midst of your storm.

Do what you can, and let God do the impossible!
